March and manifesto for the next generation of farmers and our farm futur

In December 2023, in conjunction with its 99th annual General Congress and on the eve of its 100th anniversary, the UPA called on governments, partners, and citizens to lay the foundations of a landmark project that would truly give Quebec society the means to reach for greater food autonomy. A solidarity march was held in front of the National Assembly, and a manifesto for the next generation of farmers and our farm future was presented to the MNAs.

The march brought out approximately one thousand agricultural and forestry producers, partners, and friends, who expressed their concerns and hopes to the government and to Quebec MNAs on December 6. From the Quebec City Convention Centre, the convoy travelled to the National Assembly to drop off a historic manifesto  (962 KB) .

In order for this social project to become a reality, it is essential to place agricultural and forestry producers at the heart of the solution and to act now. It is in this spirit that the march was held.

Last spring, the Agriculture sous pression (Agriculture under pressure) campaign was developed to alert the government to the urgent need to act to support agricultural and forestry producers in a difficult economic situation. During the summer, the chaotic weather made Quebec agricultural businesses even more vulnerable. The resilience of the men and women who feed Quebec has its limits. The time has come to put in place solutions to ensure the sustainability of agricultural businesses, the vitality of our regions, and the food future of Quebecers.

We are committed to feeding you, put us at the heart of the solution!

Producers share their concerns.
